Spotlight: ACTSI-supported Research Center

In Silico Brain Tumor Research Center (ISBTRC)

ISBTRC is funded by the NCI to study brain tumors using innovative in silico experiments and explore novel ideas in brain tumor translational research

Collaborators

Emory University Woodruff Health Sciences Center, Henry Ford Hospital, Stanford University Center for Biomedical Ontology, and Thomas Jefferson University

ACTSI Support

  • The Biomedical Informatics Program (BIP) provides expertise and assistance to build informatics support for managing and integrating image data and results from microscopy image analyses.
  • BIP also provides expertise and informatics support for execution of large-scale analyses

Recent activities focused on various types of gliomas. Analyses involved microscopy image data, genomic data, and clinical data (data from TCGA and Rembrandt studies). Analyses showed that morphological features provide promising mechanisms for classification of diffuse gliomas and that expression profiles identified in the TCGA analysis of GBMs also have intrinsic prognostic value for low-grade oligondendriomas.
