AAMC Launches Best Practices for Better Care
The AAMC has launched a new multi-year effort 'Best Practices for Better Care' that harnesses the unique missions of academic medicine—medical education, patient care, and research—and applies them to the challenges of improving quality and safety in healthcare. More than 200 medical schools, teaching hospitals, and health systems have committed to implement the campaign’s five initial components. Over the next year, participating institutions will focus on educating new physicians on the importance of patient safety and quality practices through formal curricula, reducing central line infections, decreasing hospital readmissions, and engaging in research to develop and share the best practices for improving patient care.
