Apply for Medical Grants for Research
Applications for grants from the Emory Medical Care Foundation are now being accepted. Medical school faculty who are based at least 50 percent of their time at Grady Memorial Hospital can get grants up to $25,000 to support research. i6 Challenge: To Bring Innovative Ideas to Market-Due Thursday
The i6 Challenge is a new $12 million innovation competition administered by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in partnership with the NIH and National Science Foundation. EDA will award up to $1 million to six winning teams with the most innovative ideas to drive technology commercialization, and entrepreneurship in their regions. Innovation Forum at GA Tech-Thursday
The U.S. Department of Commerce and its Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Economic Development Administration announces an Innovation Forum to be held at GA Tech on July 15, with university leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the role of universities in innovation, economic development, job creation, and commercialization of federally funded research. Forum participants will discuss the capital needed to move an idea from the lab to the marketplace, university strategies to support commercialization, university and regional economic development, and entrepreneurship education. NCRR to Host Web Demonstrations for the CTSA Wiki and CTSAweb.org
NCRR is offering three online demonstrations of the CTSA web systems, CTSAweb.org and CTSA Wiki. Learn where key information is, how to navigate the sites, and basic editing in the Wiki. The demonstrations will be held on Tuesday, August 24, from 3:00-4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, from 4:00-5:00 p.m., and Thursday, September 23, from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Veterans Health Administration (VA) and CTSA Opportunities for Collaborative Clinical and Translational Science-Enhancing Clinical Phenotyping Meeting-September 28
On September 28, the VA and CTSA Opportunities for Collaborative Clinical and Translational Science-Enhancing Clinical Phenotyping Meeting will be held at the Natcher Conference Center at the NIH Main Campus in Bethesda, MD. The meeting will focus on opportunities for enhanced collaboration among Department of Veterans Affairs and NIH's CTSA consortium. Topics will include electronic health records, genomic and observational research, Central Institutional Review Boards, comparative effectiveness research, and the synergies with training environment these provide. National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center (NNMC) Event-November 15-17
The NNMC 2010 Innovation Enterprise Conference will be held at the Macon Centreplex Convention Center and will feature case studies of how Dual-Use R&D projects can benefit the Warfighter and how your business or organization can participate without prior nanotechnology or government contract experience. Studio Consultations: Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, and Proposal Support
The ACTSI is pleased to announce a new resource for investigators called Studio Consultations to aid in the successful design and implementation of clinical and translational science research proposals. The Studio Consultation concept involves a clinical investigator presenting their proposals to representatives of ACTSI's Biostatistics, Epidemiology, & Research Design (BERD) program, Biomedical Informatics Program (BIP), and Clinical Interaction Network (CIN) who in turn will give the investigator their expert feedback. Announcing the New Electronic Biomedical Interactive Resource Tool (eBIRT)
The Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI) and the Emory Research and Health Sciences IT division are proud to announce the recent release of the electronic Biomedical Interactive Resource Tool (eBIRT), a new web-based application used for research resource discovery. For researchers, eBIRT serves as a "one-stop virtual shop" for research resources, such as laboratory services, equipment, software, consultation services, training opportunities, and more.
