Call for Proposals: Regenerative Medicine-LOI Due TODAY
The GA Tech/Emory Center (GTEC) for Regenerative Medicine and the ACTSI have partnered in the establishment of this inter-institutional grant program for regenerative medicine. This call for planning grants is aimed at groups (3-5) intending to pursue a multi‐disciplinary project in the area of regenerative medicine that has the potential for multi-investigator extramural funding in a three‐year time horizon. Translational Imaging Studies RFA for Pilot Awards-Due April 21
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Translational Technologies & Resources (TTR) program of the ACTSI received supplemental funding to advance innovation through imaging. The goal of this RFA is to promote translational-directed (animal to human) studies by providing pilot funds ($50,000 per award) for novel biomarker imaging research in animal models, or human translation from animal models. Eligible candidates include faculty from Emory, GA Tech, and MSM. Collaborative, inter-departmental or inter-institutional projects are strongly encouraged. Read more...

UK-US Collaboration Development Award (CDA) Programme-Due May 9
The UK's Science & Innovation (S&I) Network in the US is proud to announce the second round of the UK-US Collaboration Development Award (CDA) Programme. The CDAs are small travel grants covering transportation, accommodation, and subsistence to allow UK and US scientists, engineers, academic leaders, and innovation experts to travel in either direction to develop their partnerships. New Call for Proposals for the Winship/CFAR Development Grant Program-LOI June 30
This mechanism is intended to increase new collaborations and the number of faculty applying for HIV/AIDS-related funding to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the NIH by providing seed grant resources for collecting data, developing/refining methodologies, and/or developing/refining technologies that will strengthen the competitiveness of NCI applications. This mechanism provides support for dual PI, multidisciplinary research projects that can be accomplished in a short period of time (one year) with limited resources ($60K). Local Symposium Covers Progress on H1N1-April 18-20
The Emory-UGA Influenza Pathogenesis and Immunology Research Center (IPIRC) will host Swine Origin H1N1 Virus: The First Pandemic of the 21st Century at the Emory Conference Center on April 18-20. Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the NIH will give the keynote address. The EBI Roadshow will be held at Northwestern University and is sponsored by the Northwestern University Clinical & Translational Sciences (NUCATS) Institute, Northwestern University Biomedical Informatics Center (NUBIC), and the Robert H. Atlanta's Top Lawyers Translate Impact of Health Care Reform Legislation-April 29
Representatives of five top law firms will participate in a panel session hosted by Georgia Bio on Thursday, April 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., to translate the landmark federal health care reform legislation. Emory's Master of Science in Clinical Research Degree Program
Applications are currently being accepted for the Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) Degree program for fall 2010. This masters program in the Emory Laney Graduate School provides didactic and mentored clinical and translational research training and is designed for participants who hold a doctorate or equivalent degree (such as PhD-level scientists) and have demonstrated a commitment to a career in clinical investigation. The MSCR requires 28 academic credit hours. Admission is rolling and applications are accepted until the class is full or until May 31, 2010. Tuition scholarships are available from the Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI) to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
