ACTSI Pediatrics, in collaboration with the Clinical Research Network (CRN) and Emory Department of Pediatrics, supports a Clinical Research Site located at the Emory Children's Center. The Emory Children's Center Research Unit (ECC-RU) is designed to provide the necessary infrastructure for investigators conducting outpatient, low intervention pediatric research and is a pediatric clinical research site of the Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI). The center will improve the ability of pediatric researchers to perform innovative research while providing patients and their families with increased access to leading-edge clinical trials.

About the Unit

The ECC-RU is designed to provide the necessary infrastructure for investigators conducting pediatric research. Located at the Emory Children's Center (2015 Uppergate Drive), first floor rooms 148D, 150A, 150B, and 150C, the facilities and services include:

  • An Emory University space dedicated to research-only subject visits for IRB approved studies
  • Two exam rooms
  • One consultation room
  • One research staff work room
  • Supporting low intervention studies
  • Investigator teams bring their own personnel to the space for conduct of their trials
  • A research team member will meet all patients in the lobby of the Emory Children's Center and escort them to the scheduled room
  • The rooms will have gloves, paper for exam tables, sharps containers, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing wipes. The study teams will need to provide any other needed supplies.
Co-sponsored and managed by the Emory+Children's Pediatric Research Center's Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) including policies, oversight, and key access. Any studies requiring more intensive nursing interventions or monitoring will be referred to the ACTSI Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Egleston.

The ACTSI's CRN program provides support for the conduct of patient-oriented research at multiple sites across Atlanta. The CRN includes sites at Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown, Grady Memorial Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, the Ponce Infectious Diseases Clinic, the Hope Clinic, Wesley Woods Health Center, the Morehouse School of Medicine Clinical Research Center, and many others.
