CIN Support for Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap)

The CIN is pleased to announce the availability of support for Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), a Research and Health Sciences supported resource for ACTSI investigators that allows electronic capture of data for research. REDCap has easy form creation tools, study management tools like a study calendar, audit files, ability to lock and create e-signatures for records, and file repository for study documents. Data capture tools include all common data types, plus skip patterns for data validation and calculations. Data can be exported in several formats that are ready for import into common statistical software packages. Security is based on Emory Net IDs and there are many levels of user rights that enable the coordinator to control who has access to identifiable data. All data are stored at Emory in a secure, HIPAA compliant zone and are backed up by UTS regularly.

Fees for REDCap are based on a self-serve or consultant model and you may contact Research IT to determine the best model for your specific needs. This cost then can be requested for support from the CIN through similar resource requests that utilize the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) review mechanism. To request CIN support for REDCap, please mark the appropriate box on the Protocol Submission form to the CIN and the request for support will be reviewed at the SAC meeting. Approval for financial support for REDCap can only be obtained after SAC review.

In addition to obtaining approval for REDCap support through the CIN, you may contact the REDCap team directly. To arrange for a REDCap consultation or quote, please contact Kathryn Claypool at 404-727-3348 or kathryn.claypool@emory.edu.
